The brief
Competitive communities were stitching together Discord, spreadsheets and screenshots. The brief: give players one place to exist, compete and be recognised.
A gaming platform that pulls profiles, teams, tournaments and match history into one coherent place — replacing the group chats and spreadsheets that competitive communities usually run on.
The approach
Model the community, not the UI
We started with the data model — players, teams, memberships, tournaments, results — so the interface could stay simple without the product becoming shallow.
Live where it counts
Only the tournament layer is realtime. Everything else is server-rendered and cached, which keeps the product fast on a phone.
Designed for organisers
The organiser flow got as much attention as the player profile. A platform is only alive if running a tournament takes minutes.
What we built
- 01Player and team profiles with verifiable match history
- 02Tournament creation, brackets and live scoring
- 03Realtime match updates and presence
- 04Admin tools, moderation and audit trails
Outcome
A single platform for players and organisers, with the community layer running on live data instead of screenshots.
